Vaccines
Fort Dodge Animal Health’s Duvaxyn® range of equine vaccines includes the first West Nile virus
vaccine to be licensed and launched in Europe. Proven in the face of an outbreak, Duvaxyn WNV is a
MetaStim adjuvanted inactivated whole virus vaccine for broader protection against circulating strains
and is presented in pre-filled syringes for ease of administration. Available alongside it are established
brands: Duvaxyn IE-T Plus (influenza and tetanus) and Duvaxyn IE Plus (influenza) both of which have been
proven to cross protect against equine influenza strains responsible for the recent outbreaks in South
Africa and Australia; along with Duvaxyn T (tetanus); Duvaxyn EHV1,4 (equine herpesvirus) the only EHV
vaccine that also has a claim to reduce the risk of abortions, as well as specialist breeding vaccines
Duvaxyn R (rotavirus) and Artervac (equine viral arteritis)
Endectocides
Equest Gel containing moxidectin provides horse owners with safe, effective single-dose control against
a broad spectrum of internal parasites, including bots. It offers unique single dose control of all stages
of the harmful and potentially fatal cyathostomin (small strongyle) larvae encysted in the horse’s gut wall,
and is the only wormer to kill cyathostomin larvae ingested by the horse for two weeks after treatment
Equest delays the re appearance of strongyle eggs for 90 days, offering parasite and bot control with just
four treatments a year. Safe for use in breeding mares, stallions and foals 4 months and older, Equest is
formulated as an easy to use, palatable clear gel that melts in the horse’s mouth.
Equest® Pramox Gel containing moxidectin and praziquantel provides horse owners the benefits of Equest®;
and with the inclusion of praziquantel also offers single dose control of tapeworms. Safe for use in foals
from 6.5 months of age, Equest Pramox is suggested for use every 6-months. When used alongside Equest, it
offers part of a comprehensive, effective worm control programme that requires just four single treatments a
year – using a single dose of Equest in the summer and winter, and Equest Pramox in the spring and autumn.
Anti-inflammatories
Meflosyl® 5% injection is a sterile aqueous solution containing flunixin meglumine. Flunixin meglumine is a potent
non-steroidal and non-narcotic analgesic agent possessing anti-inflammatory anti-endotoxic and antipyretic properties.
Analgesics
Butorphanol tartrate is the active ingredient in Torbugesic®. It is a potent opioid analgesic that acts centrally
with approved indications to relieve pain caused by colics in horses. Proven, the product is available in an injectable form.
Sedatives
Detomidine hydrochloride is the active ingredient in Detogesic/Equimidine. An alpha-2 agonist, it offers reliable, predictable,
dose related sedation when used alone, and profound sedation when used in combination with butorphanol, eg. Torbugesic.
